Ways to wear houndstooth trend this fall

This eye-catching Scottish houndstooth print, is a Fifties classic and seems to stay on trend forever. Designers have presented more iterations than I previously thought possible the past years and again will come with some great new variations.

I have seen pre fall 2014 collections by Balmain, StellaMcCartney, DNKY and Michael Kors, to name a few, who used this pattern in macro, bold or rather micro, subtle variations. In a lot of cases replacing the color black or white in the pattern by soft pink, red or royal blue and creating a slighty different, arty shape.

I promise that if you considered houndstooth old school you will completely change your mind seeing the upcoming collections!

I will most likely share some more ‘edgy’ options to wear later, but I thought that starting with the plain traditional pattern will help us getting ready for more experimental styles. Besides the combination of black and white is so easy to be matched, that houndstooth makes a perfect basic to integrate in your wardrobe anyway. It matches almost every color so don’t be afraid to choose some bold colorful accessories (yellow, royal blue, red, purple, fuchsia… ) or some bright lipstick to finish your look. Or do it the other way around by combining a bright colored dress or outfit with some houndstooth printed heels or scarf.
