Loubilaque by Louboutin

loubilaque 1

You might remember my blog about the dramatic rouge Louboutin nail polish that I got from my best friends for my birthday. I expressed my wish to one day wear this shoe designer fingertip to toe not knowing mister Louboutin would come with lip glosses too!

Ever since that birthday a new tradition has spontaneously been born at my house. If guests stay long enough at a party, I get the beautiful jewel-like faceted bottle and offer those still there, both (brave) men and women, one Louboutin red pinkie nail.

And now we have the new Loubilaque collection of 8 lip glosses. No doubt these glosses will cover perfectly, that they will come in sublime colours and will make your lips shine extremely. One for my personal wish list. A must have that’s not yet available though. We’ll have to wait till July.

Male friends, be warned as I feel a new tradition coming… : )

When skies are grey

Looking outside and watching the rain pouring all day long, I decided to bring the grey sky inside by creating an inspiring mood board based on this moody color, that has so much potential.

These rooms are all four based on grey. Grey walls, and textiles without any printings, just simple greys, that combine perfectly with crisp whites and a warm touch of some gold, wood or brown.

Hopefully some interior inspiration to make you happy when skies are grey!

Today’s inspiration

syrian artist

Tragically not even a recent piece of art by Syrian artist Tammam Azzam, but this picture keeps touching me, every time it pops up somewhere and is unfortunately still topical:

With his own way of speaking out, Tammam has painted a superimposed version of ‘The Kiss’ (Gustav Klimt) onto a bombed Syrian building, to highlight the pain and suffering in his country, Syria.

I love how this painting offers us a way of looking for the love stories behind this wall before it was completely obliterated by war machinery. A powerful juxtaposition of beauty and devastation, symbol of faith, hope and love.

When the power of love is greater than the love of power, the world will know peace.

Summer cool-off

summer ideas 2

How to keep cool and refreshed in the summer heat? Or, in case you are still waiting for summer to start, how to add some sunshine on a cloudy day?

Inspired by the boozy prosecco popsicles, I found some more ice cold -little effort, big impact- options.

These ice cubes with edible flowers, fruit or herbs instantly add a splash of spring to your glass or cooler and also the idea of creating a ‘bigger ice cube’ by creating a whole cooler to chill your bottle of champagne looks pretty awesome.

Take a look yourself but I am pretty sure these ideas will cool you from the inside out and warm your from the outside in!

Summer vibes guaranteed.

Winter coat want!

These coats definitely speak Italian! Not just a little Italian, but like all the way Italian! Timeless, luxurious designs, made of the best possible materials. The kind of coats that will make you look forward to colder days.

Yesterday I had the chance to see, feel and try on some coats of the new Peuterey fall / winter collection 2016 and I loved every single one of them. They immediately made me think of my Scandinavian friends that I, just like I can myself(!), easily picture in these beautiful soulful pieces.

And like I was not convinced already, I just found this picture of one of New York City’s most photographed and fashionable couples who were spotted wearing the new outerwear collection (Olivia wearing ‘Solasca’ and Johannes ‘Faiallo CP)!

If there is one style icon I follow, it’s definitely her. She always looks amazing, whether she’s sitting front row at Fashion Week or walking around in her Nike trainers, hair in a ponytail.

So if you, just like me, like to toughen up your wardrobe this upcoming fall / winter season with an Italian timeless, statement piece, go check out all the great options of their fall / winter collection (discover more on Peuterey.com) or go check out one of their flagship stores. The closest to me is in Antwerp.

Proven once again: Italians do it better…

She who dares wins…

lace 2
Layering a bright white jumper over a longer lace dress; an easy way to safely channel the lace trend this summer; accessorized with a nice handbag and sneakers you are absolutely good to go!

And in case you like your look a bit more edgy, simply combine your lace dress or skirt with a leather jacket and biker boots (click here for even more inspiration), to create your own tougher look.

More off a sporty type? Why not pairing your outfit with sneakers and a long knitted vest or jumper? You will be both comfortable and sporty chic. Or in case you prefer the elegant look, you can always finish your look with a nice blazer and high heels and instantly feel like a sleek fashionista.

Or….if you don’t mind stepping out of your comfort zone, you might seriously consider wearing it without any covering layer, exposing all off your curves and (im)perfections, being incredibly sexy.

She who dares wins!!

The color of love

tiffanyThe other day the delivery guy came by to drop off one of my online purchases. I saw him coming and was immediately attracted by the color of the box he was holding… undeniably a ‘Tiffany blue’ box.

For those lucky enough to have received a gift from Tiffany’s (the American premier luxury jeweler, opening in Amsterdam this summer), it is very likely that upon catching sight of the Tiffany blue color, you felt your heart rate increase of even skip a beat.

There is no escaping color!

There I was, amazed by the excitement I felt, misled by a color, for a split second expecting an exquisitely beautiful gift (my husband would call it ‘a very active imagination’), only to find out that a Dutch company is using a similar color for their packaging.

Who said red is the color of love?

Sleeves have trends too…

bell sleeves 11

Still not sure if this is a trend I am 100% on board with, but the big bell sleeves trend remains one thing you should consider clearing out a special spot for in your closet. And to be honest, it definitely is a fresh way to sass up your jeans, skirt of shorts.

I recently shared with you another, similar blog post on this topic twist on a classic  but the statement blouses with special sleeves keep filling my screen.

It really is all about oversized, voluminous, extra long and bell sleeved blouses and my picks might convince you that you actually really need bell sleeves in your closet to fashionably survive Spring!

City trip: Den Bosch

Gorgeous weather, friendly people, the architecture charming and authentic, quality of the stores surprising…last weekend in Den Bosch has been a wonderful experience. Definitely one of the best destinations for a (shopping) getaway in Holland.

I need way more time to check out this inspiring city but I already made a list of some hotspots to put on your list when planning a visit and would love to hear from you if you have nice places to add. Here’s what I found:

Stroll down the beautiful streets and visit some of Den Bosch’s interesting lifestyle stores:

#1 OAK for fashion and interior decoration in the Snellestraat

#2 VanDaan for nice accessories, books, gifts and gadgets in de Minderbroederstraat

#3 Koekwaus for original and unique gifts picked by two inspiring sisters who own this store

#4 Webshops Only in de Vugterstraat. A fascinating concept! This is a concept store, where web shop owners can rent shop space. Result? A store with a large variety of unique, often handmade products. They call it ‘life web shopping’…brilliant.

#5 YaYa in the Krullartstraat. My kind of store with pretty fashion basics in soft sandy colors and fabrics, combined with ‘nice to have’ interior accessories.

If you are more into fashion the Zoomers Fashion Store will make your heart skip a beat. More than 3000m2 of fashion and lifestyle. Absolutely worth the visit. This store will instantly give you the city vibes as if you are in an upmarket department store in London! There also is a luxurious grand café where you can have a drink or even a nice lunch or dinner after a long day: The Fashion Cafe

If you are looking for a cozy spot for lunch, dinner or drinks outside, you definitely have to go check out one of those two charming streets: the Korenbrugstraat or the Korte Putstraat. They are both full off small restaurants and bars, both in the city center of Den Bosch, where you can sit outside, year round, thanks to the heated terraces. One of my favorite bars in the Korenbrugstraat is trendy wine bar Bottles & Bites and in the Korte Putstraat try Breton (where they serve small plates so you can try a variety of plates in one visit).

And last but not least, you have to promise me, you will try a ‘Bossche Bol’ before you go back home. You cannot leave Den Bosch before having tried this pastry, for which the city is famous. It’s a giant profiterole, filled with whipped cream and covered in rich dark chocolate. The best ones can be found at Jan de Groot. You’ll definitely notice the line up but it is worth the wait (if you don’t worry about calories)!
