Chi va piano, va sano e lontano… if you have an easy-going and relaxed approach to life, you’ll live more healthily and longer’.
Being Italian is not only a nationality, it’s absolutely a lifestyle. No rushing, not getting caught up in the busy trap. ‘Piano, piano’. Italians don’t rush around with to-go cups of coffee. They sip their espresso at the bar. They take their time for meals with family and friends. They take their time for walks, they even take their time for siestas. It’s obviously less important to them to be on time, but more important how that time is spent.
I cannot think of a better place in Italy, to symbolize this relaxed friendly lifestyle, than beautiful, romantic Lago d’Orta, a hidden lake in Northern Italy where my sweet sister took me this summer.
She already told me months ago about the quiet beauty of the landscape, the changing colors of the water and the sky, the charm of the narrow historical streets where only pedestrians are allowed. She told me about the family owned little restaurants with their stunning lakeviews and the Agri Gelateria on Piazza Motta where the owner passionately sells home made ice cream made with organic milk from his own dairy farm. And now that I have been I can only agree!
This is absolutely one of the most gorgeous lakes I have ever seen, where I will definitely return to, to soak up the Italian lifestyle and spent lots of time with my loved ones.
Cannot wait….
With love,
